It’s Sunday! All day long____. What can I say? Hmmmm_____.
Cloudy, damp a darkness fills the room. Guess its time to turn on a light. This and I will have to be my own sunshine! Coffee on the right.
~Shibui & Art~
I think about what it takes to be a successful artist. That is the keenest desire.
It is the quality of the work, not how long it takes to make it that matters most. It is about what we bring into the work; that process evolves and changes according to what we are building upon. The purpose, the goals come from what we know, what we have learned from experience. Art is about what is mental thought, emotional feelings, it takes physical efforts, and spirituality. Sometimes more of one thing than another. Sometimes there is a need for something new, something beyond these experiences. There is a need to explore new ideas.
Don’t stay stuck in old experiences would be my advice. The more you rattle around art in your mind, the more likely something will grow and become.
The imagination is a wonderful thing! One needs to go there to experience it however. Shibui takes me there to things I would not have considered before.
The imagination is a natural experience. Something we see, think or feel triggers it.
Building a sketchbook of ideas is one way to go. Very useful when creating traditional art. When it comes to Shibui it helps to create many new foundations! The action art itself will inspire you.
Taking photos of things that interest you and posting them in the studio is an inspiration when you’re a traditional artist. Hanging several action art foundations so you see them inspires the Shibuiest.
The goal here is to trigger excitement, the objective to have a “simply doing it” mindset.
Don’t stay in that “slump” that artist get hung up in, where you feel you have lost all ideas and desire to move forward. Where you feel unproductive.
Get out into the world. Take time for the self so you do relax your mind and body.
Anxiety and self-talk when negative won’t help. Think about what does excite you. Think about what the creative process means to you. Read or do something that brings you back to your artistic self again!
This was the point where I was at when I began developing Shibui. I needed to do something different. I wanted to do something different and new!
Best wishes! Pejj
