I am a lioness! Hear me roar!
“Thoughts”
Good morning! May love and laughter find you! It’s a rainy day here. As a kid I thought, this is how the world gets a bath! The rhythm of the day begins with many cars, trucks and buses going by. Nokomis (our local school) is just down the road! I went to high school there. My brother and I were one of its first classes. My freshman class was so big, 174 students, we used the cafeteria as home room. The local towns had consolidated into this one high school. Now the elementary, grammar school and high school are all in one building. My high school is torn down, and new buildings are across the street. Taking the old high school down helped create a much larger athletics field. My grand children go there, and my middle daughter teaches there. I hope to teach Shibui there at some point.
Next month I begin training for teaching art to the elderly. A program from the Maine Art Commission. This will allow me to apply for grants that I may develop a program such as Shibui Found Image Art as an art therapy tool, or as an original art form. Now to tailor it for a class for the elderly. A bit funny as I am 71. I don’t think of myself as elderly, and I bet others don’t either. The body just metamorphosizes. So, I will be among my peers! And I can set an example for not acting one’s age. LOL! I have an idea that part of the reason to be in an art class as an older person is so life is much more interesting!
Creating such a program has been a dream of mine since 2011. I continue to develop Shibui and I teach the foundation; I saw its potential and have been captivated by it ever since! Shibui begins with action art and then becomes found image art. It’s been tested on people who have disorders, and other artists use it by creating their own brands.
Teaching Shibui in the past was a global endeavor thanks to Facebook, where it was taught as an original art form and as an art therapy tool in other countries. This was amazing feedback for me! In addition, I learned a digital version of Shibui could be successfully developed.
Now to teach the foundation so others can create their own Shibui entrepreneurial jobs or use it as an art therapy tool or original art form. Life has become exciting!
May many best wishes and lots of love and laughter come your way! Pejj, 9/3/2026
