Good Morning, Sunshine!

Coffee at the ready, a sunny day ahead! Best wishes to all!

A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

Title: Self-portrait/Feelings by Pejj Nunes, Soft pastels.

It feels good to___, well, to feel good! I am pleased with myself for keeping promises to self, changing things up! And doing things differently.

The move is complete with the last of my totes coming today! Ta Da! I am all in one space now! Moving is over.

~ Thoughts for the day. ~

I cannot help but think of other people who do not have this contented feeling. Instead, for them life is crazy upheaval. I have had such experiences. The ones that trouble me the most are what’s happening out in the world beyond me. The word that comes to mind is unbelievable.

I wish there were such things as magic wands that would only do good things for such individuals! I would use mine. I think many other people would use theirs. Instead, it falls back to we humans to make things right or better and stop the senseless hurt and anger.

~ In the studio. ~

To explain the above photo: I am deciding which reference image to go with here. I am leaning towards a floral abstract. I played with the original photos I took, and manipulating the color. I Invision an abstract painting using these same colors. I did black and white photocopies that I could find the edges of the flowers.

Today I will be unpacking art supplies that came along with the totes. Then find their place in the studio.

A studio is always revolving which depends on what you’re doing for work. There is always something that needs to be moved or put away to make space for something else.

In my studio things often have more than one use such as a card table that doubles for a third drawing table, or it can become my dining room table when company comes. I can sit four! LOL.

The knife’s Edge

When I woke up this morning

I found I was writing a poem in my dream

and the only line I could hold on to

was: take nothing for granted.

So I will write down that one line

and go looking for the rest;

I will take nothing for granted.

When I walk out of the house the air is still

but I can see the wind getting up.

Now it is the bushes on the skyline,

and now in the stand of poplars by the spring__

I hear it speaking in the shivering leaves____

and now, a minute later,

I feel it, blowing coldly in my face.

North-west wind,

must you blow down all these bright leaves____

red maple leaves above the hillside,

stippled poplar leaves glittering in front of them,

green-gold beech leaves, yellow birch leaves, subtle ash,

sumac like flames in the pale grass?

And the wind says, “Yes,

I must get to work now,

I must blow them all down;

I must take nothing for granted.”

I love a poet that takes you there and entangles you in the experience!

The image on the right was created by using procreate on my iPad. Another learning experience.

The image on the right is a graphite drawing. At the point of this photo I was daring myself to go darker with the shadows. This happens if it has been a long time since you have practiced your drawing skills.

I did just that! It does comes back to you! Really!

What I like about shis drawing is that it felt rather unique in that what look like houses once I had it sketched in were in fact the reflection of my studio. I simply tweaked the light establishing what appear to be windows.

The very best to you, may love and laughter find you!

Simply, Pejj
