Good morning from Anisette Studio! Coffee at the ready! Rolling into the day!

~ Thoughts for the day! ~

I have had the most wonderful time the past three days! Reaching out to others is a really super thing to do for yourself! I had promised myself after my husband Tom died, I would start reaching out to others and build a social life for myself. There are very good reasons to do this. I won’t get into them, but you can read what people feels happen after a partner dies. It seems unfair but when your no longer part of a couple some old friends don’t know what to do with you. You’re a single person again.

What needs to happen, I found was to make new friends a long with old ones. Reaching out with purpose even. Not just anyone makes a good friend. So, I have thoughtfully reached out. And it is working. At first, I looked up old friends, the cool thing about my age-old friends are older too! No little ones so you can really talk about things. LOL There is more time at this point.

The wonderful came from reaching out to someone I had met years ago, an older friend of my daughters. I asked her to come for coffee sometime, she brought cheesecake, we walked to the lake near my home and later I received a message to come to a spaghetti supper! We essentially spend the whole day.

The next new person I met in my meditation group. A whole family comes with her! She invited me over for lunch. I am now a grammy person to a 2 and almost 4-year-old! LOL. SO sweet! The Dad is fabulous too! The two-year-old claimed me totally! a little boy. The Mom is an artist too! Her world right now is all about little ones!

The very best thing about reaching out is that it means getting out of the studio! I am not sitting all day and reminding myself I need to move! An artist or writer needs to experience life around them! Truly! The work when you come back to it feels even better!

I am also blessed with very special, unique online friends. We have become very close over several years. We count on one another as if we lived next door! Good friends build a garden of friendship with you, you come to love who they are! I am grateful and blessed by the friendships I have made. Again, reaching out! Taking a risk to know someone.

~In the studio! ~

When it comes to the shapes that become forms in a Shibui foundation. What you find is elaborated on, it becomes something more through intentional design. A shibuiest works with what is found. Building on the resulting story keeping true to the final form the shapes make.

I am working on the second ink stippling, one of three angle drawings. I cleaned both sides with a kneaded eraser to get rid of old dust and marks, proceeding to work it. The goal is to make prints of these images when done.

I am just feeling happy as a clam due to the past three days! This has not been the case as I found myself working to move into my balanced state of mind at times and not run with thoughts. This happens even when you feel you “got it!”

Something by Joyce Hifler.

Away in the deep of the silver night____ I heard a nightbird sing____ I knelt by the window in soft moonlight____ and listened to him fling____ his joyous notes of all his freinds____ the ones he learned by day____ And while they slept in feathered nest____ he sang the night away.

He told of the joys of those who care____ he said they would always know____ no matter what the circumstance____ that special place to go____ to view the sunrise, to feel its rays____ pierce the darkest night or day____ He sang, “Have faith, have faith, my friends____ and your fears will melt away!”

~Creativity~

An interesting thought about creativity from Joyce Hifler. “Creativity is more often born of necessity than of genius. Making use of the simplest things at hand has more often provided a better life for those who chose to use their ingenuity instead of worrying about what they do not have. An inventive talent could lie dormant for a whole lifetime if it were not for the need of a person to satisfy his longing for food, for love, for beauty, and a dozen other needs that make him seek answers.

A genius is not required in these lessons for living. But a natural flair is a handy and an even larger amount of common sense and a simple determination can provide needed things the genius cannot see. It takes a need and then the desire to satisfy that need.

There was a time when a lady sewed a fine seam without the aid of today’s sophisticated machines. There simply came a time to sew and yes, a time to take out stiches she so painstakingly stitched by hand. The materials were not always silks and satins we read about, but rough fabrics, some bleached cottons and some unbleached. But they were serviceable and that was clearly important. Godmother was such a woman. She was not one to mince words or waste her time. When certain-making time came she set about stitching the ruffles along the edge until she came to the point of completion.”

I shall end these words here with my own thoughts. Ingenuity is a wonderful thing. It is said that Mainer’s have what is called “Yankee ingenuity!” And I dare bet other states have a version of this train of thought. “If there ain’t one way to skin a polecat there is another!” I am not sure why someone would wish to skin a skunk. More to the point, it’s wonderful to be inventive and make things work. This may take some genius____. And. “Where there is a will, there is a way!” Having or finding one’s desire is vital to being a do-something person. Motivation, goals, beginning something and following it through.
