Good morning! My thoughts today are about responding thoughts which are negative and bring you down. What can we do about negative thoughts? I think understanding how the mind works can help. I have written about the mind and how it works many times because it is an interest of mine. I research about the brain/mind, consciousness, psychology, neurosciences, and dive into philosophy at times. This too is an interest because it tells a lot about being human. Human behavior_____ begins with consciousness. Nothing exists without consciousness. To live, to evolve and become human, animal or plant for example is being conscious. That key spark needs to be there to thrive and evolve. All of life is a miracle. And yet here we are, as we are, as we can be. And it’s not all good.
Humankind builds upon thoughts. Thoughts are messages from the brain. Thoughts are a collection of stored ideas, that become belief, and therefore belief systems. The mind predicts what we want and pulls it up to be used. It is very much the pro and con list used to debate issues. For anyone who has been on a debate team you know how that works. You examine a topic or related topics and then determine your possible outcome. You decern the evidence as true, false, and the best which gives you the answer you believe in. The idea is to support the argument or arguments you wish to prove as the best. The best is meant to be supportive. We use this to move through our daily life. Bottom lines are developed. We establish goals and develop motives. These goals and motives are not bad things only if they become extreme, negative and involve harm, violence, towards others for example. Such things are often a result of hurt and frustration that through thought evolves into anger being justified. We reason our way into bottom lines because of how we come to feel about something that has come up for us as something we need resolution for. We expect answers to what we deem an issue. We expect support from others around us so we can determine we are not alone in our thinking. We grab onto what seems right. The problem is not having time or taking time to determine what is “right” according to how we want life to be.
Most people want to have what they feel is a good life. But this does not happen everywhere. Bad things happen with thoughts. Just as good things happen with thoughts. And there we are! We all want the same kind of things, love, happiness, peace, family, to have health, safety, protection from what we call evil. So much more____ this list is endless. And instead of finding out how we can all have this, we go against one another to fight for the same desired goal. That is truly a sad result.
The question is how to change life and not compete to exist. If we set our minds on healing this world instead it would make a difference. It is indeed about love, loving the self and others. The world is a big place this is why change needs to begin with people where they are. The belief of something spreads like a ripple on a pond. Once started the idea grows. If it begins with loving intention, it can stay the course and spread. It requires people to come on board with the choice of this is what I want, how I want to live. It requires a conviction and stance. The mind will fall in line because it predicts thought from what we want to do. Free will and the power of making choice still come into play. We are in charge of our thoughts. How to think, and how to carry ourselves no matter the circumstance come into play by choice.
Not thinking about ones words and actions is what leads us to feeling overwhelmed and it seems easy to follow along. We measure everything by time, and now we have painted ourselves into a corner where we don’t have time to think because now the focus in on earning enough money for many things that distract us from living well. What do we really need? We need ourselves not material things. The only way to think clearly is to not add to what we should be thinking as important.
