Bring beauty into the world! Each of us can! You need to want it bad enough to find it there! It is truly there if you really want to see it! However, it is a deep and personal endeavor to take that journey. The journey of self. Who do I want to be? How do I want my life to be like? what does it take?
I began to explore in earnest what I wanted my life to be like after my wonderful husband Thomas died. He had opened me up with his inner beauty. By allowing me to become whom ever I wanted to be. I miss that support, but he gave me strength, a strength I had way down deep inside me. He allowed me to grow, and he truly loved me for who I was! As I did him. Loving someone for who they are is a very deep way to love. The person someone is the more important part of the relationship. It’s belief in one another, a security that binds you. So entangled, it was felt. Trust and respect wrapped us tight, and love flourished. This is but one form of beauty someone can have. Other things matter less. My grandmother and mother would say, “That if you feel truly loved, you’d live in a “shit house!” Meaning not under very nice conditions. It means too that you would live and be happy, content and loved, no matter what if life was not perfect. Perfection, genuine love is simply that! It’s showing love to each other no matter what.
Some of you know how I love the words of Joyce Hifler. Her book, To Everything A Season. Chapter 2 begins with “A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.” This follows: “I have a garden in my mind____ in which I walk sometimes____ and in the glowing gold____ A rose of courage climbs_____ and it finds its way along the fence_____ that protects and holds my heart____ and all along the walk of love_____ The flower of peace makes its start____ A mockingbird in all its joy____ sings deep within the night. And rest comes gently drifting down____ and settles all so lightly____ upon my grateful heart serene___ and I spend my tranquil hours____ within the garden of my mind_____ among the fragrant flowers.”
Relationships are like gardens, and what we say and do are as flowers. It’s when we allow “weeds” to take over our gardens, our lives____ and where we stay stuck in our heads rather than our hearts and higher selves that a beautiful garden becomes full of ugliness. Where once there was beauty____ but not all places are beautiful, and it has been as if they never were that way. Perhaps once but many weeds overtook it, blocking out the hope of becoming more. The source of life was not given a chance.
When a world is so very big, as ours is. It takes many, many, many gardens to make the world lush and alive. This will not happen if people are not allowed to live their own lives, according to who they are. It’s no the right of others to impose what should or should not be planted in a garden. We don’t all have to be the same kind of gardener, what we plant does not have to be the same sort of thing.
The other things from the world? The kinds of things that cause destruction. Death? The things that make people less than? They are only overcome by genuineness, compassion, the allowance of growth of personage, self-governances at non global levels. They are overcome by love. The right to become and learn one’s way forward. Acceptance and so much more! It not the right of some to overpower others and in doing so make them less than who they are because they differ.
Those who realize that change is a slower process, because it requires testing out, to have the facts that help move someone to the act of making change.
If we begin with the self, it blossoms, and like a ripple in a pond, it goes on and on, and on.
Chapter Three, from “To everything A Season.” It reads, “A time to kill, and a time to heal_____” Then, “Sometimes when the moon wanes low___ and the stars have all the sky____ I cannot help but wonder some____ and ask the reasons why_____ With all the glory here below and heaven there above____ why must we quarrel about small things when we were made to love____ The great and small, the young and old_____ the beauty of this land____ from mountain top to valley low____ the beating surf and sand. There isa life within it all____ As dear, as dear can be___ It is the beauty in your facew_____ It is the light in me!
There is beauty in all of us, each and every one, there is a light with in all of us! And sadly, it is forgotten, covered over and changed, blocked out so there is nothing, but darkness left. However, beauty and light will always reveal what darkness hides. It uncovers what is ugly so it can replace that ugliness. It takes time. The most beautiful things are the things waited for, hoped for, and tended well so that they become. Think of desert flowers that do survive all that does not happen until one day it does!
Hope gives way to power, become a flower.
Best wishes! May love and laughter find you, even in such times as these. Pejj Nunes
