Good morning! A rainy start to the day. So, far a cup of Joe and reading “lady Chatterley’s Lover. I am reading another book titled Tenderness by Alson Macleod. This book is about D H Lawrences’ book Lady Chatterley’s Lover, Jackie Kennedy and the times she lived in. So far. So, me being me I was curious about the book itself. What I understand so far is that Jackie Kennedy was ahead of her time regarding who she was as a woman. She was pinned in by the world she was in, something women know a lot about.
You are given insights into D H Lawrance’s life. He was considered an exile. Banned. Our government held a meeting to prevent the sale of his book here in the USA because of the topic of sexuality. I don’t want to spoil it for others who might read it. What is interesting is how D H Lawrence writes this story and sorts the characters out. He has stacked those pros and cons up nicely comparing the commonality and differences of all in a way that requires you to ask yourself, “How would I feel? What would I do if I lived in such a situation. The times Connie Chatterley lived in present the conditions. Clifford Chatterley fights against being as he now is, someone in a wheelchair. His life is different after being injured in the war.
The other book I am reading is quite different as it is The Canterbury Tales by Geoffry Chaucer. I am reading this and discussing it with my friend Alice. There is a lot of sorting out to be done to do this. LOL.
Why have I turned to reading? It’s been a long time, and it is a part of doing the things I have not done and want to do at this time in my life. I loved reading and love getting the grandkids into reading.
Rading gives the mind things to chew on, other than what’s happening in the world. You can’t ignore that but it is not good to fill the brain with craziness all the time.
Best wishes! May love and laughter find you! Pejj
