Revenue stream goals for 2024: (1) The creation of 12 pastel still life’s. Below is one example of my work so far. The plan is to create and pick from the best when 12 or more are completed. (2) other revenue stream goals will be paintings in one or more of the following mediums: oil, watercolor or gouache. It’s been a while as my focus has been on Shibui Found Image Art. A pivot is a good thing as I write about Shibui. I am loving Paul Rembrandt pastels. The colors are amazing.

It’s been since 1994 that I have had fun with the pastels. I began Shibui 2011. A lot happened after that. I have my new home in my cottage studio and just now feel I am underway! A new easel awaits me! Varooooom! Or perhaps its “Let’s move it! Move it! Move it! More like that! I love claiming my Boho cottage studio!

Good Morning Sunshine!

Good morning! Though its past the hour. Today my thoughts are about falling back in love with books. Finding “the meaty ones”; those that reek of having a great deal of substance. Something you can sink your “teeth” into. I became a connoisseur at twelve, forever hooked on books. Reading taught me about writing in a way that differed from the English language class. Writer have rules but they also break them through the art of creative dialogue. After all a character can say anything! It’s the painting of th e words that matters most, how you suggest or imply the who, what, when, where and why, and how. Knitting the story so that it sticks like glue in the mind of the reader is an art. The writer must know the possibilities of being human, what a human believes or believes in is something a human puts forth in a number of silent ways, but there is an affordable scale where on one end the writer allows the character to shout most heartily. Picking the kind of person with the twist of good, bad or indifference____ for example. What is that secret desire? The hidden purpose? Or need? What thoughts lead that character to what end. For thoughts become many things, we hold onto them or cast them aside. We stack up the meaningful support, the wishes for good or bad, ill will because we want a resulting end. A writer touches on what others know, what he or she knows, and what is observed. The greatest writers___ Poets know “true ecstasy and trauma” and they pay attention to that which others feel.

Writing is a compulsion. An activity of thoughts. The brain its storehouse. Writers know how to tap into feelings. They understand that everything is connected. That people are as dominos, or they are like planets and stars in the universe. That commonality does not break its ties for such ties run deep, an umbratical cord from a greater consciousness. And there we are! Never standing alone even if we may feel disconnected. We have simply forgotten the connection because the universal sense of living life feels overwhelming rather than feel embraced, we feel alone and fear it. Fear and anxiety overwhelm everything like the cloud of a volcano blankets all around it. It however is a choice as to how we think, what our words and actions are, how we carry ourselves. And writers know these things too.

Artists are like writers in that writer’s paint with words and artist paint the words flowing from thoughts; the mind, the very being, the center of self. The world that both writers and artist see is poetic or lyrical. It is music which vibrates, it is color! Both compulsive in nature have hearts that ache for what is right and just because of the pain of all others. They know what wrenches the gut and tears at the soul, that all things bleed. They hope is in not wanting to die! Survive for the sake of loving the self and others. To truly feel compassion.

When art is seen and books are read, they embrace the mind and tell others there is more to this world, it can be more. Books tell us that there is a ying and yang to life and knowing this balanced state between is knowing the difference. We do not know love fully unless we know what hate is. You can plug in any word here! Fo all things have an opposite! The need is knowing the balance. Stiving for something better, finding the right words to express how we feel. Learning to communicate with one another and not run on feelings we do not have balance with.

Well, todays thoughts. Best wishes! Pejj Nunes
