to open ones eyes, and wake up! First the fresh air from getting kids on the bus! Then to the cottage. Then coffee making!

Then______ home made bread with butter today!

Then!

A start to the day, and a blog. The home made bread taste like two, not one…… I will admit that it came frozen. Three loaves. I do make bread. And of course it can be sent next door, and grandson Alex he will find it here ! Lol. “What have you got? He asks. A peak into my life at this time. Like Henry David Thoreau the view out my back door is the woods.

I llove the woods. Some of my favorite times have been in the woods. Tapping maple trees in deep snow only to find buckets are now breast high to take off the tree. We used a pipe line too, tapped over 2000 trees back then. Boiling and selling. Cooking Maple cake with boiled Maple Frosting. Honey cakes from the hives. With Honey Frosting.
farm life is hard work but there is a great richness to be found too. I enjoyed the misty mornings, tethering hay, going round and round with the tractor, seeing dear and Canadian geese, bob cat, even mountain lions which headed through to elsewhere less populated. The smell of the fields and forest. Being familiar with the roll of the land. Skiing down into a long field. Or cross country on snowshoes through woods, and edge of fields. Stopping to see the sun making shadows and lighting up diamonds in the snow. Gold and round the early sun. Curious cows willing to head for the barn, where others need you to remind them. “LET’S GO!” It’s amazing when the heard is so large, you can recall all the names. And of course they are not given names usually unless special some how until they have had their first baby and become one of the milkers. Cows are special creatures with their own personalities. You get to know them. Such names can seem odd, but it was inspired somehow triggered. Daisy, Molly, Rex even though she is not a boy! T Bone had a boney back. They weigh a lot if they step on your foot you know it. You pass out slices of hay and scoops of grain they will be happy. Keep em clean. Play music for them. When you go into a pasture know they will be curious about why your there. They may lead you to a barn! Well anyway coffee fresh yeast bread led me to these thoughts today.
May love and laughter find you, may your heart be filled with joy! Pejj Nunes
