Good morning! May all be well with you! Looking good on this end! Kids are off, coffee is at the right, birds are fed. The Red Bellied Woodpecker has come for peanuts. Not a busy place at the moment. A quiet morning. Sun is out! Friday! All day long!
More thoughts on plants. The proven train of thought about plants and trees is that they are very highly sensitive organisms. I love seeing the microscopic images proving the real stories behind plants and trees.
Did you know that trees have their own way of foraging for what they need above and below the ground. Think of this! Its conscious behavior!
There are plants which “walk”. They really do move via their root systems! Very interesting. The reason they move is to get what they need!
When trees desire rains their leaves turn upward. They know what they need and go for it their way. They know how to adapt. They procreate, they know how to survive as they go through a seasonal process. Infact they are capable of a refined self and non-self-recognition (which becomes territorial behavior.) Think of the different types of forest such as a boreal forest Only certain types of trees live their and support one another. Trees know where they will exist best, and who their neighbors need to be. It’s not just the luck of the wind taking seed. The seed grows where it will thrive.
This description is not how most people think about trees, I did not. I saw their beauty, and a kinship towards them as a child. I never lost this sense. It has been the same with all of nature and the earth. Like I had roots, still have them. When I think of my roots I feel them. I feel the energy of nature. As a child I felt trees were alive and could observe me. No filter then, and just perhaps they do. A blind person without sight senses other things.
Plants are indeed sophisticated in their behaviors just as animals are. They too adapt. They communicate with the other plants around them in their own way, responding to others around you means you convey something in turn that these others understand. Plants defend themselves by being poisonous for example or they trap insects.
We live in an amazing world! Plants are always monitoring their environment: spatially orienting themselves. The hold presence, know absence, identify with neighbors, recognize disturbance. What happens with a tree if it can survive a fire? For example. It competes with other trees to survive. It knows predation whether this is microbial, insect or animal. It will heal itself as it can and overcome or live with something like an axe left in it. Or if it is banded and forgotten. It has a consciousness regarding the atmosphere, the soil, how much water it needs, its location. It understands if propagated it needs to heal, the results can be a better situation for the tree such as fruit trees that have wonky diseased limbs. Trees respond! They support their offspring! And yes, they do recognize their kin! Scientific observations tell us all these things! Trees communicate within a ecorange, biological oscillations occur, including circadian.
Best wishes! Pejj
