Not to many more tweaks. Often the best advice is to sit back and observe the painting your working. Run through your mental check list about composition, value, shading, and the all important light source. Drawing x what you see. Earlier there were to many sources of light which made the image confusing because my light source and shadows conflicted. Shadows did not go deeper. Oh I was painting what I saw! But it did not make a good painting.
To paint every day is enlightening. Drawing what you see is key. Composing a still life is mote than putting objects down. In this case my mind found this story in the painting. To me the rooster appears to be puffing out his belly to be like the jug and vase. He is a rich color which stands out. “Notice me!” He seems to say.

My book shelf where I am sitting up the still lifes. To the right I have a door, which offers a light source, and a large window, as well drawing table lamps. The still life became much better when I shut of lights off and closed the door. I also have sliding glass doors and a kitchen window on right side. Next time I will set up in a shadow box as it basically is a box.

Color theory plays an important roll. Best of x wishes, Pejj
