Revenue stream goals for 2024: (1) The creation of 12 pastel still life’s. Below is one example of my work so far. The plan is to create and pick from the best when 12 or more are completed. (2) other revenue stream goals will be paintings in one or more of the following mediums: oil, watercolor or gouache. It’s been a while as my focus has been on Shibui Found Image Art. A pivot is a good thing as I write about Shibui. I am loving Paul Rembrandt pastels. The colors are amazing.

It’s been since 1994 that I have had fun with the pastels. I began Shibui 2011. A lot happened after that. I have my new home in my cottage studio and just now feel I am underway! A new easel awaits me! Varooooom! Or perhaps its “Let’s move it! Move it! Move it! More like that! I love claiming my Boho cottage studio!

Good Morning Sunshine!

Yesterday’s pastel painting using pastel pencils. I have not completed a full pastel painting with them before. I kept with it. Layering and recording what was there in the still life. The neck of the vase is shortened to fit the paper. The paper is a stiff, smooth paper. I will use a neo color white on the left side, there are the two reflections at the bottom of the vase I am pleased with. They are from the fruit, pale color on the vase.

There is a part of the brain that 1. Will whisper that somerhing is not right, or that argues, or encourages you not to like the work. Especially when your a new artist. It happens when you have been a artist a long time. The difference may be you put things away rather than throw them away. And you realize that you have learned your way forward. You know more now about how to make the medium behave. Or it’s learning how it works. Don’t pay attention to the voice. It calls up what it things you want. When you think subconsciously that you don’t like or can’t get into doing something the mind is wondering what direction you want to go, so it brings up choices. Then we begin to wonder where to take things. Sometimes giving up. Sometimes we get wonderfully surprised and fall in love with a medium. We don’t have to pay attention to every thought we have

For many years I did not like the results of my drawing marks. I came to the conclusion I write and draw according to me. The size and shape of my hand come into play. How we hold our drawing tool….do we draw using our shoulders, draw standing? If we draw just using the wrist…we get wrist results. Lol. If you want more delicate lines, better drawings this comes from spending time drawing. And so I remind myself. True too of applying other mediums. And so this journay must move along, and so in time I will improve. For now, I will say ‘Not to bad.” Set it aside, look at it a while, then put it away. Pull it out and “see”. Having fun with all of the mediums I do.

Best wishes! Pejj
