Today’s oil pastel painting on pastel board. A first for me using pastel board. Have it sketched in. This is a short distance off my deck. The sunlight was hitting this big rock. It looks pinkish here but what caught my eye was it had been a soft yellow. I took the shot just as clouds were taking the brightness off. I had wanted to capture the yellow light. This was before 7 am. You can see the back of the tree has some yellow. I will try to bring what I saw b back into the image.
This shot gives me the info about the light. Otherwise this rock is grey. I will take license and bring out rocks that are there, as well as add some, or position them. The concept is to bring the viewer into the painting, so he or she can “walk around”.
