Revenue stream goals for 2024: (1) The creation of 12 pastel still life’s. Below is one example of my work so far. The plan is to create and pick from the best when 12 or more are completed. (2) other revenue stream goals will be paintings in one or more of the following mediums: oil, watercolor or gouache. It’s been a while as my focus has been on Shibui Found Image Art. A pivot is a good thing as I write about Shibui. I am loving Paul Rembrandt pastels. The colors are amazing.

It’s been since 1994 that I have had fun with the pastels. I began Shibui 2011. A lot happened after that. I have my new home in my cottage studio and just now feel I am underway! A new easel awaits me! Varooooom! Or perhaps its “Let’s move it! Move it! Move it! More like that! I love claiming my Boho cottage studio!

Good Morning! Sunshine!

A simple little oil pastel painting. There needs to be a couple small tweaks, I think. Highlights. It has been over 20 years since I painted in oil pastels. How they work apposed apposed to soft chalk pastels the question. What is important is the composition. I have been focusing in on composition by reading about it, sketching, and relearning mediums I have not used in a while. Charcoal for one, with lots of newsprint! LOL. There is a love, hate reality of charcoal. Love it’s richness. Forgive it messiness. It will loosen you up, especially in gestural drawings.

It’s cool air at the moment, but wonderful sunshine, birds singing.

I have acquired a new visitor. A young ground hog. Not so sure about feeding this one too. A turkey, chipmunk and now groundhog? The prior owners talk of deer coming up to eat Hosta blossoms. There was a mother racoon with two babies on my daughter’s porch. A hawk came one day chasing a smaller bird. The hawk had a challenging staring contest with Dave, Jacobie’s husband. Before it awkwardly left, catching its pray.

Today the Cowbirds are out there with their blip, blip, chitter sounds. Some are similar to plimp, plimp. The hang out in a group of 7. The males doing a courting dance, by chattering. Holding wings out with tails up. The girls seem to coyly ignore them. My red bellied woodpecker does a cha, cha, cha noise. He has become quite verbal, he acts delighted at finding the food.

The nut and berry mix is a hit. And peanuts.

Best wishes! Back to reading and writing the morning journal. Pejj
