Revenue stream goals for 2024: (1) The creation of 12 pastel still life’s. Below is one example of my work so far. The plan is to create and pick from the best when 12 or more are completed. (2) other revenue stream goals will be paintings in one or more of the following mediums: oil, watercolor or gouache. It’s been a while as my focus has been on Shibui Found Image Art. A pivot is a good thing as I write about Shibui. I am loving Paul Rembrandt pastels. The colors are amazing.

It’s been since 1994 that I have had fun with the pastels. I began Shibui 2011. A lot happened after that. I have my new home in my cottage studio and just now feel I am underway! A new easel awaits me! Varooooom! Or perhaps its “Let’s move it! Move it! Move it! More like that! I love claiming my Boho cottage studio!

Good Morning Sunshine!

Good morning! Coffee at the right! “Ready for the day?” I think, “Why not?” The sun is out, a promise for the day.

My writing goal today is to explain how Shibui uses design during its creative processes. Understanding Shibui’s creative process took a while. I had to fully recognize it. One problem was that I only noticed what it felt like and did not have the words to help clarify what the process is. I began to break the process of creating a Shibui down.

The Shibui foundations were not like drawing on paper or preparing a painting on canvas. There is a preconceived understructure when you paint on canvas. You plan the image. With a Shibui it begins with action art, then finding the image that is there, which has no pre-drawn understructure.

Yet, if you work what is there it requires a process, applying techniques, knowing the materials used. It requires imagination. And it requires problem solving. One way to solve what happens with a Shibui is to find the commonalities of its events within their field; the foundation of either Rives BFK or Strathmore watercolor paper. This part of the process reminded me of the design work I had done. I was contriving what I found. I was building on what was there. I began to look at what designing was, and found I was using information from a class in Art Theory. What I was developing was a theory and it needed proving the process. I spend five years simply creating Shibui, that I could understand its process.

So far, I have written eight- and one-half hours this week on the manual for Shibui.

It helps to keep track of writing time and I have a sense of accomplishment and know I can meet my writing goals. It allows me to relax and take the time for other things. It is important to take care of the self. Getting good rest, taking time for family, time for creating art, and meeting other needs. It will avalanche into being done. It takes a short period of time to see this, consistency will get you there as your routine begins to work forward.

Best wishes! Pejj Nunes
