From Muddy Brook Cottage Studio 1/8/2024 (And its way past morning!)

Today, I will have to say has been a really laid-back day! I have spent a good chunk of the day watching the birds come to my back deck. I have been taking photos of them as well. I have not fed birds before. It turns out that this is very fun! I am both pleased and surprised by who comes.

I think doing some small watercolors from the photos is a good plan. I have some antiqued watercolor paper that will be perfect.

The list of birds grows. Blacked-eyed Junco, up to 16 of these. Tufted Titmouse, it seems 4 regulars. There have been two blue jays, and a red bellied woodpecker, a pair of red cardinals, a couple sparrows, and wrens. Today there were 8 beautiful Morning Dove! And there has been five Red Wing Black Birds. One I am not sure of. It seems if I look into the symbolic meaning of these birds, I am very lucky among other things!
